The capital is the main financial center and largest city of Brazil. Featuring the largest hotel chain in the country, offers many entertainment, cultural centers, museums, parks and
various types of architecture, present mainly in the central region. According EMBRATUR, the city’s most popular destination for foreigners traveling to Brazil on business events and conventions, and placed third in leisure travel. After receiving the title of world capital of gastronomy, the city has a great search for recipes. Many of the best restaurants in Brazil are in the state capital, with a huge variety of cuisines to suit all pockets. The major events in São Paulo are: New Year’s Eve on Avenida Paulista, the Gay Pride Parade (the world’s largest), the Bienal de Arte de Sao Paulo, the Book Biennial of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo Fashion Week, Carnival of Sao Paulo, the Anima Mundi, the International Film Festival of Sao Paulo, the Motor Show and the Grand Prix of Brazil. Among the main places to visit, are the Avenida Paulista, the MASP, the Museum of the Portuguese, the Ipiranga Museum, the Memorial of Latin America, the Ibirapuera Park and Independence Park.
The state has three metropolitan areas: the metropolitan region of Sao Paulo, Santos and Campinas Metropolitan Region. Within São Paulo, among the most visited cities are: Campinas, Atibaia, Ali, Bragança Paulista, São José dos Campos, Campos do Jordao and Sorocaba.
