Beaches of the Northeast - Tips - Knowing Itamaracá - visit the coast of northeastern Brazil (photo and map)
May 11, 2009 by: MarcioThe Isle of Itamaracá is 45 km from Recife. To arrive by car you must take the BR-101 north through the center of Abreu e Lima (this phrase is usually a bit of jam), until Igarassu, which takes up a secondary runway.
A good option is to start the tour by the Old Town, where you can see a little of the history of the island with their houses and chapels which refer to the sixteenth century. By being on top, you can enjoy the view.

The next stop should be the Tamar Project manatee is in the Fort Road, km 5, phone :3544-1056. They only work from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am until 16h. Here are the nurseries, large tanks where you can enjoy these great animals and enjoy culturizar to see the documentary that they show. See more about this project.
Another point that deserves mention is the famous Fort Orange (Estrada do Forte, 5 km, Itamaracá, 3544-1646. 9h/17h, Mon. To Sat.; 8h/17h, Sun.). which is in ruins in bad condition, but it is essential to know Itamaracá. It was built by the Dutch in 1631 and houses a collection composed of Dutch maps and parts of the time of the invasion.
Now, if the day is the sun, you can enjoy the beaches (with plenty of sunscreen) with emphasis on beaches of Forte, Ensenada Dolphin, Crown side of the island and the Airplane. To go to it (almost opposite the islet strong), we get a boat or a boat right there in Praia do Forte. You can tour the mangroves of the Canal de Santa Cruz, passing by other beaches up the Crown. Or ask to go directly there. Is a good place for lunch in the Crown of the Airplane since there are many bars and equipped, the location is very nice and clean and its waters are crystal clear.
If you have time, go back and wait for the screen of the famous Lia of Itamaracá usually occurs at night on the beach of Jaguaribe, but we must check whether it is in place and time. If the schedule allows and yet are willing to return to the mainland, can make a stop in the city of Igarassu is known by the number of churches that have, as one of the oldest cities of Brazil. Most churches are only open until 17 pm
It is the roadmap, but ideal is to stay on the island and enjoy a little of each of the north coast beach Pernambucano.
