Festival Parintins Woman
Currently taken as the 2nd largest folk festival in the country (losing only to the carnival), Parintins started his party in the current format in 1964, where time has highlighted the rivalry between the fans and Caprichoso and Garantido.
Released initially only for the local audience, the festival gradually became known in other cities, states, to win in TV transmission, as has been happening in recent years.
One is that it emerged in the mid-twenty, with residents of Parintins who met to found a Ox-Bumbá and honor the Caprichoso Ox, which existed in the city of Manaus. The idea worked so that the owner of the Ox Galante of Parintins (existing since 1922) accepted the idea.
Finally they say that two cearensis who came, created the promise to pay Ox. According to them, would put a cow to dance in celebration of St. John where the two had success in the new land.
GARANTIDO - symbolized by the red heart, the bull was founded in 1913 by Lindolfo Monteverde, famous singer of verses of the site. During military service Monteverde ill, and did promise to St. John that if the health recovers, it would create a Ox annually to the street while he lived. And it continues today.
Assured of the name, the many versions. One is that it occurred during a fight with the opposite Ox (in Parintins the fans of a rival called the Ox otherwise). According Lindolfo, your Ox full skirt, while the opposite was always the broken horn. “This is guaranteed” he said.
Another hypothesis involves the improvisator Emídio Vieira, who made a challenge to Lindolfo: “… I will whim my Ox.” And then came the answer: “Because in your capriche I assure my.

Festival of Parintins
Inevitably the Festival of Parintins is compared to the Rio Carnival. After all, both involve floats and costumes. However, the comparisons stop there.
In 1st place during the Carnival, the samba schools (14 in the panel, 12 more in the group of access), consisting of several wings, parade to the sound of samba sung by its handle. Moreover, as the parade is a parade: opened in concentration across a bridge and ends in the dispersion.
Parintins already has the momentum of an opera: the show is inside a circular arena, where each of steers held their parade with floats that move, and produce various special effects. In addition, each cow has its “gang,” which tests a choreography for the show.
Finally, a fact that deserves mention is that while a cow parades and everybody does their choreography, the guys to the contrary should remain silent, not to overshadow the show. A real lesson in chivalry.
The rivalry is strong, but always respecting the warmth. Both the members of Caprichoso, or GARANTIDO, are limited to calling the rival of “contrary”. And to enhance the festival, the city of 35 thousand more than doubles in size, with more than 100 thousand people between Parintinenses and tourists.
In Bumbódromo, Ox presents each for 3 hours in three days of festival. The order of presentations is always determined by lot.
See the picture where nine of the night, the presenter of the audience greets Ox (Ox the next will be presented at around midnight). Then the tune starts to ignite the arena. And Bumbódromo literally shakes.

In this festival, religion and folklore mingle among the forest animals, pictures of popular imagination and Indians. The four thousand members of each Ox year include the story of Father Francis and Mother Catirina, which has an uncontrollable desire to eat ox tongue during pregnancy, and asks her husband to satiates it.
Only to fulfill that task, Father Francisco kills the boss’s favorite bull, which discovers. Then a priest and a doctor (witchdoctor in the language of the Indians) are required and save the bull, who resurrected and forgiving Father Francis and Mother Catirina. With that the celebration is complete.

Another curiosity is that the jury only use green pens to no influence on the results because of the colors.
